I personally don’t think cops make enough for the amount of shit they have to put up with including being lied to by literally everyone they interact with, having to deal with completely out of control and sometimes heavily intoxicated people, and the occasional risk of randomly horribly dying screaming at work that the majority of their critics don’t face in their jobs

Hell, I deal with psychotic intoxicated occasionally verbally hostile people in my job and I’m allowed to say bye and walk out whenever I deem it appropriate, with of course much less risk of being hit, bit, spit on, or killed, and I make almost as much as cops do starting out

Males under 25 is the problem, just keep them occupied til then. Doing it by selective service solves the fiscal issue, for now.
