School is a gigantic financial scam, which is why it should be regulated so douchey old people don't steal your money.

But also, the idea that people shouldn't partake in higher education is the most virgin redneck take I've ever heard.

School is for straight up losers.

Expecting everyone to need post-secondary education confers problems of its own (such as delayed adulthood), but I agree it's almost necessary in today's society. Most employers are virtually unwilling to do significant on the job training anymore, and regular K-12 education has been so badly weakened and watered down that it's no longer adequate for preparing children for adulthood. A 4 year degree, today, carries similar relative worth as what a highschool diploma used to carry. It should never been allowed to get to that point, but it did, so for now folks'll have to tolerate debt loads and similar issues. Fixing that type of vast systemic problem requires political backbone that our present government simply does not have.
