Passed by Congress on May 13, 1912, and ratified on April 8, 1913, the 17th Amendment modified Article I, Section 3, of the Constitution by allowing voters to cast direct votes for U.S. senators. Prior to its passage, senators were chosen by state legislatures.

I agree with the states you named in the northeast. Adirondack area in NY is beautiful too

Im hoping out of nowhere just minuets before the election is officially called, due to some kind of freak accident Majorie Taylor Green & Matt Gatez are declared P/VP and due to reasons we cannot understand or change they must be sworn in.

It's far fetched but out of all the outcomes, that'd be the one that would be the funniest and best IMO.

No they didn't, the states just didn't go for it. Federal has no say in that("nonjusticiable").
