For one, progressivism is the socially acceptable culture. Meaning most conservatives need to be in the closet in most public situations, it’s the safe default mode. Also, while both parties tend to shun those with opposing views, leftists do it far more aggressively. Look at the witch hunt for JK Rowling’s game as easy proof of that
