Lot sooner than that. The gradually increasing intensity of the sun means the Earth will be effectively reduced to charcoal long before the Sun goes nova. In geologic terms the Earth is approaching the end of its window where it can support life; probably that window will close in less than another billion years. It's no concern for our own species since we'll long since be extinct by then either due to catastrophe or due to the slow toll of continued evolution, but it does mean our world will only be able to support a relative handful of additional extinction--repopulation cycles.

This.

Games over on the humans.

Anything that comes next will not be human.

I would love to write a fantasy epic about 2 billion years from now.

I am rooting for dogs.

Dogs would be fine.

I want octopi to become star faring tho, but hold an old archeological find of everquest trilogy sacred and recreate elves in a new young system and give them nanites that allow magical control over their environment.

Jibartik 09-11-2021 05:49 PM

You ever notice that dogs smile now?

They didnt used to do that.

Octopi are powerful creatures to be sure but are less ambitions than dogs.

Dogs will miss us so much it will be the carrot that pushes them to the top I think.

’m not the brightest crayon in the box, maybe a chartreuse. I am a concerned community member though. I have 40 years of experience and transitioned from mtf 10 years ago. If what I see happening is concerning I would hope people would find merit in it. I have been subject to a fair amount of harassment and adversity. Yet I truly believe in live and let live.

This game and community is more than one person. One developer. We are strangling our own diversity and strength in response to the actions of a few privileged and nepotistic people.

I believe we should all try to take an objective look at things. A step back. Support the good employees and developers at Blizzard. Nit picking every past element of this game and attacking people for it. Or letting that spoil everything is short sited.

There’s plenty of good and wholesome elements to wow. Look at Jaina Proudmores storyline and kinship with thrall. That’s just one example. Maybe I’ll find others as well.

We should celebrate what is good and the opportunity to reflect and grow that we have shared with people during these times. Not claw eachothers eyes out over juvenile and decades old humor, memes. Without that old perspective we never would have learned.

Wow is the most woke game and community. Is it perfect? No. We shouldn’t erase everything that has taught us and elevated us. Given us a chance to reflect on our world through the mirror of parody, satire, fantasy, or fiction. To do otherwise would be to subject ourselves to a monochromatic and elfless world.

I care very much about wow. It’s players. You. The Amish. The unmentioned gnomes. The devs. And the executives who’ve all done their best to enrich our lives and share themselves with us in our special and unique online space.

From that post I linked.

I totally agree!
