I one time had a client who was a middle aged man, normal functional life, married, wife was there with us. He was having a manic state with psychosis. I’m trying to distract the client with some light conversation while my co-worker goes over mental health resources with his wife without his constant interruptions

I notice a pic of his cat and comment that I also have a cat. His response was “you have a cat too? Do you like cats? You fuck cats huh? Yeah you fuck cats”

And all I could think of at the time was the meme well that escalated quickly….

But before I could really react due to his rapid speech he transitioned into “do you like being tickled?” And started trying to tickle me, so I had to quickly disengage and remind him we aren’t allowed to touch or be touched by clients

After enough time doing this you just get used to bizarre behaviors…
