America is poised to shift to a complete corperate take over in the coming year.

Hear me out.

There is a conspiracy on both parties to hedge the power of social media.

Both parties agree the way to do this is with regulation.

The regulators that both sides look to agree section 230 of the Internet Decensy Act of 96 needs to be changed.

Changing this would put the largest corporations at a massive advantage literally making it impossible to compete, here is the most easy, and nefarious way they will be able to shut down any competition:

1. new web service opens
2. someone sues them for stuff published on website
3. new web service shuts down
4. that someone gets fat check from the big corporation that wanted that new service shut down, because they were an employee all along.

Basically, if/when this unanimously passes, you can pick your faction, disney, amazon, facebook, etc, and then strap in for the cooperate wars from cyberpunk.

Bob Dole Will Protect the Constitutional Liberty of Internet Users

Quote:

Bob Dole strongly supports the observations made in the recent National Research Council report that widespread use of encryption to promote information security outweighs the difficulties encrypted communications place on law enforcement. Economic espionage from foreign countries and companies is a serious threat, and Bob Dole believes Americans should have the right to guard themselves using encryption.

Feels like we're halfway there already. Pelosi and pals will get a hunch on which of these corporations to invest in and which will get closed.

Cover Letter: A letter to Congress explaining the need for Section 230 reform and how the Department proposes to reform it.
This is the best part:

Pandering for Republican support:

Quote:

First, it addresses unclear and inconsistent moderation practices that limit speech and go beyond the text of the existing statute.
Pandering for Democrat support:

Quote:

Second, it addresses the proliferation of illicit and harmful content online that leaves victims without any civil recourse.
lol those two things contradict each other
