Might wanna also think about the Extra Polated data from ice cap core samples as well. You are correct ACTUAL measurements began recently ( relative to earth age) so kudos! But if we gonna ignore that, may as well just say earth is flat, 4500 yrs old and dinosaurs were on the Ark with Noah and Joan.

lol i know all about the antarctic ice cores that have been sampled, the theory is sound - in theory. I remain skeptical of their interpretation. Yeah the ice there is "ancient" there's no dispute there, its "how ancient" and "what other events" were occurring at the time the elevated levels of co2 were in the atmosphere, if a big volcano blows up, the earth is gonna be rich in co2 for a long ass time, if there were a few decades of massive algal blooms, co2 is gonna drop for a long ass time.

I've driven behind a semi-truck. Fossil fuels definitely suck, and companies like exxon had exact data on oil pollution back in the 60s, but sat on it like the tobacco companies did, money beats morals, everytime.

The big deal in my mind is that by 2100 there won't be enough fossil fuels to go around, ppl chant "no blood for oil" now, if we're a fossil fuel reliant society when the wells dry up, the chants will quickly turn to "No nukes for oil".

Basically, there isn't enough coal/oil for us to destroy the planet with, we will destroy each other over the last of it.

the real problem is the switch, I worked in solar energy, and the climate footprint on PVCs is huge, from the manufacturing to the land cost, and PVCs are still very inefficient, so you have to cover hundreds of square miles to collect any "real" energy.

The answer for the future is still nuclear fission. Maybe someday someone will figure out fusion, but not anytime soon they won't, the only self sustaining fusion reactors in the universe are stars, which are really powered by gravity.

For the foreseeable future, fission is our only hope of "cleanish" and sustainable. I get it, radiation bad, but most folks dont know that coal-fired power plants produce more ambient radiation than fission plants. I voted for Trump twice, and even I was like, "wait what, coal?!"

Finland is leading the way in nuclear waste disposal, thats a good sign imo.

It's just an example about how trump, is able to authentically complement Hillary, while she is not able to do the same, because he represents everything that is good, and she represents everything that is evil.

I'm either really tired, or that was some heartwarming stuff Jib. Political ninja hillary tried to get in front, and skirted the question deftly, but she gave trump time to think, and that was a bad move, because he came up with a compliment about her, not her kids, and it was a damn good compliment. I would say that about Hillary, if nothing else she is a relentless fighter, and that is respectable.

well, at best she'd complement your kids and then smile sarcastically at a camera. :o

You know all about it but still doubt it. Excellent.
Anywho

https://world-nuclear.org/informatio...n/thorium.aspx

Thorium reactors sound promising, on the surface. Needs a catalyst to go bang. Remove catalyst, it stops. Simplified, im sure its more complex.

China is a leader, India has the most Thorium and some interest. US has minimal interest so far.

Incidentally user bubur may be interested as well. When Thorium degrades it turns into Pb208. Eventually.

We need Chris Hemsworth to champion it. Thor I Um. I can see it now.
