The Direction the wind was blowing?

From what I remember about the George Zimmerman case, he was on his back with the black dude sitting on his chest punching at his face when he shot him. I remember seeing the blood and bruise on his face. He was a vigilante instigator, but he was actually taking some damage when he decided to use lethal force. Also, from what I remember Zimmerman only initially confronted the young black guy verbally, he didn't threaten him with his gun, which would have created a fight or flight mentality in the other person

These other dudes drove up, cutting Ahmaud's retreat off, brandishing guns. To any reasonable person that either appears to be a robbery (with a possible killing after) or just a killing. This prompted fight or flight, then prompted the killing

Devil is in the details

edit: this is why vigilantism and "citizen's arrests" are dumb. Police have uniforms for a reason. No one knows you are a "citizen deputy" or whatever make believe hero you want to be when you confront them in plainclothes with a gun. You're just a possible psycho serial killer with a gun for all they know

Sounds same to me. Zimmerman I felt instigated the situation too so glad justice is finally served.

Make no mistake if someone rolls up on me with a gun and a badge he made out of cardboard I'm going to attack that person.

Yeah that one feels extreme, like if you go with your friends to catch a robber, then one of your friends blows someones head off you're a murderer?

It's not. If I ask "hey what are you doing there?" that is not a threat to that person. There should be no rational reason why that person would attack me for asking that, unless maybe they actually were in the process of committing a crime

Driving up to someone, cutting them off, then pointing a gun at them is a clear and present threat. It's also at least assault, regardless of whether you shoot them

Very different scenarios to me

edit: Now if George Zimmerman had said "hey you dumb fucking n*****! get the F out of this mostly-white neighborhood" and the black guy attacked him, and he shot the black guy, pretty sure there would be some legal consequences for Zimmerman

1 count each defendant I think

The McMichaels grabbed guns and jumped in a pickup truck to pursue the 25-year-old after seeing him running outside the Georgia port city of Brunswick in February 2020.

Bryan joined the pursuit in his own pickup and recorded cellphone video of Travis McMichael fatally shooting Arbery.

...

He then starts shouting, apparently as Arbery is running toward the McMichael’s idling truck with Bryan’s truck coming up behind him: “Stop right there! Damn it, stop! Travis!” Gunshots can be heard a few second later.

I've served on two juries after being called for jury duty. I felt like I took a reasonable approach both times, in the second case (a DUI case) I was named by the group as lead juror and the one who had to read aloud our decision

Maybe one day I'll get another chance to fulfill my civic duty

So if a man comes up to you on a subway, and badgers you and gets all up in your face and he wont stop you push him, and he takes that as 'a threat' and begins a full blown fight with you, that you start to win, so he pulls out a gun and shoots you.

You think that was self defense?

Once again, asking someone what they are doing (apparently to Zimmerman it looked like the kid was scoping houses to rob them, the kid was walking in people's yards and looking in their windows, but my memory if the case is hazy) is not "badgering them"

It's a different scenario. If a dude on the subway asks "hey are you getting off at the next stop?" and I say "what the F did you just say old man?!" and start punching him, and he shoots me, he's probably going to get off on self defense

Not worried about upsetting him, he's obviously miserable

Just another banal chud who still thinks pretending he has no feelings, beliefs, or actual ideas somehow aggregates to owning the libs online
