Pet Guard

Often times when I put my pet on Guard it appears to be wandering off. When I leave guard off this never happens. This happens in multiple zones.

Anyone else experience this?

EDIT: Note it does wander off, when I try to buff it I get the "out of range" message.

Yes normally what i do is call him back/follow then set him on guard again right next to the first place.

I've noticed this too. What seems to happen is: if you set your pet to "guard" while it is moving, it will appear to continue to walk in the direction it was headed.

However, even if your pet appears to walk a great distance away, if you hit "follow" it immediately pops back to the spot you set it to guard (rather than come running back to you from where it appears to have been). It's as if the pet was there (at the guard spot) all along and only a graphical glitch made it appear as though he was wandering off.

I've never had the pet get aggro because of this phantom wandering but, as the OP stated, you can't buff it once it gets out of range. I've learned to deal with it by making sure my pet is stationary before I give the guard command or, if he does start to wander, I tell him to "follow" then "guard" once he's still.

Interesting thanks for the info!

I think if you tell it to /sit before you tell it to /guard it fixes that problem.

Interesting. I will add it to my list of things to look at. I gotta fix a few thigns with pets and guard, etc, anyways.
