They put so much work into making a separate version of the world, instead of just using their existing assets. Fun though.

I always assumed that the dungeon in the 1999 cinematic was supposed to be Najena..

Should check out the videos of Unrest in EverQuest 2. It's the one zone that I actually feel is a major improvement from EverQuest 1, and that's saying a lot since Unrest is one of the best zones in EverQuest 1...
Really would like to see Daybreak games make an EverQuest 3 that is a true sequel to EQ 1... basically EverQuest 1 re-mastered and expanded on with more modern features.

Anyone member this game ? I find it cool how similar the dialogue box is to EQ's. I think you got a free copy of this with some version of EQ.

Checked both out, the thing about EQ1 is the early Win95/98 3D accrerator style graphics. The fog that was put it for hardware limitations is an asset here, things coming out of the fog. Small zones are as big as your imagination because you can't see it, which adds to mystery.
(hmm, skip to 3:30, dunno how to do specific time with embed yet.)
The triggered music (EQ had midi triggers) and the visual fog.
