Like seatbelts on an air plane. An illusion of safety. When the plane comes crashing down at a 60 degree nosedive at 550 miles per hour, seatbelts wont help.

Lol. Ever been in turbulence before? Or a rough windy landing?

You illustrate a good point though - Not understanding the purpose of something might lead you to say something silly about it…

… kinda makes a fella wonder, don’t it?

I personally refuse to use seatbelts on the airplane. And yes, I demand that they let me on anyway and not violate my freedom.

Please nobody listen to anyone's advice here about medicine and talk to your doctor.

This is good advice. Although, I would go even further and say speak to a PCP, pulmonologist, or infectious disease specialist actually treating covid patients in the hospital. There's a big difference.

he's right. you don't want to wind up with Hog, MD. i tried him out for major surgery and had to have a coastal elite surgeon go back and fix his work. He probably is a COVID minimizer and you can't trust a word out of his mouth. musculoskeletal guy. yes it was awful. I was in excruciating disablement and nobody would schedule me fast. Just for a case in point.

practicing medical doctors who cant pronounce basic chemistry terms like they never went to school ...they're out there.

You're poisoning the well.

Asking your doctor about nontraditional treatments and therapies doesn't make you a nazi or anything else.

It's ignoring the advice of experts when it doesn't line up with your politics that makes you a fucking moron.

The two are not the same.

There are almost exactly the same arguments to be found from boiler shop workers a hundred years ago complaining about getting sick from all that asbestos dust (from the lagging) when said "experts" were insisting that it was all in their heads and there was no known danger from it. Oops! How about lead pipes--another oopsie. Use expert advice for the resource it is, but treating it like infallible gospel is ill-advised.

One modern example is the nigh-universal plastic water bottles. I won't use them. The water coming out of those always tastes like plastic. There is no way you'll ever convince me that those things aren't going to prove to be another "oops!" years or decades from now when the experts figure out they were wrong all along and drinking plastic is indeed bad for you.

With respect to medical treatment, someone has to be willing to take the risk and be the human guinea pigs so we can get the data to see what happens. That includes both the vaccines as well as alternatives.
