Mage pets
Ok i understand you guys cut our pets min dmg but why did you screw with the max dmg. I was hitting in the 50s and 60s yesterday, now max hit today is 50 and more often then not its 12 13 maybe a 20. I get that you wanted to fix some of the dmg, why i have no idea when it was working fine. You have a hugue issue with warriors in ability to taunt bw skill is still jacked up and spells causing way to much agro and you decided to jack with the pets somemore. Posting say he should be hitting for at least 58 so what did you guys do?

I don't know exactly what's going on here, but the title seems relevant to peoples' interests. So here's the basics:
1) Min damage for pets was lowered. This is not a change dictated by a particular patch, the minimums were just too high relative to *any* point in the EQ timeline. 2) The frequency with which a pet hits for minimum damage was increased. This should not have occurred and has been fixed, pending update. My apologies. 3) Max damage values for pets were not changed. If a pet wasn't hitting for max, it's a result of #2, and will be fixed with next update. |
I already gave Kanras my logs, but just so everybody can have a frame of reference, here is some mage pet damage from pre-Kunark 2000:

LOUD NOISES!!!
Seriously though, am I taking crazy pills, or does that damage seem pretty much accurate to Live for the pre-Kunark version? Not overpowered in any way. Now, it's like necros and mages are hybrids toting around novelty pets. It'd be pretty hilarious except that those two classes are my two main characters. |
What I don't remember is having to give my pet two weapons for him to duel wield...its really a mana sink to have to give a new pet two weapons and mask...and mage heal is crap, but its pretty much the only way to go now...

I play a mage and I dont see a big deal with mage's pets loosing innate duel wield... While u med summon 2 daggers for 10 mana. Open trade. Even though I never remember them loosing innate duel wield, it isnt a gamebreaker. Its a gamebreaker to enc and necs, who cant summon weaps and have to wait for there pets to med up, instead of summoning/ charming a new one.

"Higher level Magician, Necromancer, and Shadowknight pets now have the ability to dual-wield without being handed weapons. The calculation used to determine whether or not this ability exists takes several things into account, but for the most part 39th level and above summons (higher for the Shadowknight) will have this ability. It is possible that you could get a 'good' 34th level pet that will, or a 'bad' 39th level pet that will not have this ability." http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20001129.html End of November, 2000. |
