I feel like ascribing a sex and race to G-d is very silly in that context.

His son was probably a lot like the Jewish tribe he was sent to help out tho. Maybe a bit more universal racially and androgynous sexually. He's mostly described as a man so for myself I just stick with the Mormon version of Jesus and don't automatically assume that it's accurate. It's acceptable. And works well enough for my tribe so I don't sweat about it.
