yeah theoretically low frequency radar could target a plane, AFAIK the sensor tech that currently exists still just makes a giant blurry blotch on radar bc the waves return to the source too far apart to appear to be a clear lock. so the missile you fire will just fly itself to a large region of sky, not like a pinpointed location provided by high frequency radar
most AAs don't track a plane like a shooter does to a clay pigeon, it predicts where the plane is gonna be at a certain time, flies to that location and detonates to damage the plane with shrapnel.
the giant blurry blotch provided by low frequency rader could be dozens or hundreds of miles across, vastly reducing the chance of a kill shot
eventually someone will come up with a method to resolve a pinpoint target from low frequency radar of course, I figure with hypersonic tech being prevalent in news that stealth aircraft may not matter much longer, because if a missile is coming at you with speeds like 7,500 MPH, then tracking it on radar won't matter because by the time you know its there, it has already hit.
the attacker/defender pendulum has been swinging back and forth from the dawn of man and will continue until we wipe ourselves out.
