Windows 11 and P99
 

Is anyone running P99 on windows 11? I've recently purchased a new computer that came with windows 11. I performed the normal transfer of the p99 files from my old laptop to my new one using a flash drive. The client will load and run with one issue, there are no character or mob models, only weapons, names, and spell effects.

I've seen a number of threads mention this in my search but they just "fixed" themselves with little explanation. Wanted to put this to the forum to see if anyone has any suggestions.

I did a direct copy from my current laptop that runs EQ well, to a 32gb flash drive, then to the same directory in the new laptop. EQ will start, I can log in and select a server. Once I get to character select screen there are no character models, only weapons, names above where the character should be, and particle effects. In game there are no models for anything. I've tried a copy and paste a few times. Next step is a fresh install on the new laptop.

Texture caching enabled? Not sure where the cache is located. Player models and stuff are all in globalload.

I'll see if I can find it. I'm leaning towards an issue moving from Windows 10 to 11 of the graphics card is too powerful. It works find on a generic Lenovo laptop with Windows 10. Same files give me the invisible characters on the MSI with Windows 11.

See if you can use that wrapper. It's basically drag and drop some files. Edit a text file once you've confirmed its running. Should in theory work!

The default with windows directx subsystem 11 im sure is terrible. Windows 10 has its own wrapper2 stock sorta... a lot of the dx8/9 stuff isn't there and the system needs them anyway. I don't know if you can still install those manually in win11. MS packaged the manual installer with greywhare u gotta click off so beware.

Try a fresh install? I'm running P99 on windows 11, but I didn't copy files from my old machine - just started a fresh install and it runs great with wineq2.

I call that showman mode. It's Video Driver/video card related.
