How Much RAM Does EQ Use?

And is there a way to increase it? My game stutters often even on low settings and I suspect its because the game is limited to how much ram its using. I have an rx580 8gb, and 80gb of ram. ryzen 8core cpu yet my game has an annoying stutter...

It's a 32bit program from the late 90's. It's not capable of addressing memory outside of 4gb, and "required" only 256mb or something to run.

There are other things to look at for stuttering - namely logging, CPU affinity, and making sure the client is actually using your video card (dgvoodoo2). If you search for stuttering, frame rate, or frameskips you should find some relevant threads.

It's not a laptop with a separate graphics card by chance?

I had an issue for awhile where the driver settings were off, in a way that made my system use the on-board graphics instead of the card, and that made things unexpectedly choppy.

Also, if you haven't recently upgrade your graphics card drivers: that's usually the first step on any graphics issue debugging checklist.

Nah not a laptop. I moved the game folder over to an SSD, and I think it no longer stutters..
