If you measured the time humans have existed on earth compared to how long the earth has existed.

I bet it would be as much of a blip as the amount of time MMOs have existed during the entire lifetime of Humanity.

Kind of an interesting thought experiment: at the end of our existence we created our own worlds.

Is that just like the universe? at the end of its existence, did it invent our little world?

Speaking of faith, I learned today that my former left-leaning church is apparently planning to host an anti-semite, anti-gay, anti-trans event tomorrow and Saturday and I could not be more disappointed. I emailed the pastor, he said something along the lines of "we asked them if they are anti-semites, they said no". One of the key speakers is Kandiss Taylor, the "Jesus, Guns, Babies" person

Like, dude... seriously... it doesn't work like that. Nobody articulates these things so plainly. Only idiots actually put up outward indicators of their fascist tendencies.

I'm really disappointed in the lack of wisdom they demonstrate. If they do bag the whole thing I'm volunteering my time to help them translate online rightoid bullshit.

Update: they dumped the event. Yay. I mean, they never should have agreed to it in the first place, but making the right decision at the last minute still beats platforming hatred.

No, most people are not as eternally online as people like me. I have absolutely ruined my brain. However, fascists depend on the ignorance of the general populace to use platforms. Deplatforming works, and it's why conservatives whine about supposed censorship of their fetid thoughts while they support censorship in other sectors (don't say gay bill, books in schools)

I am happy to use my insanity to benefit the congregation. That church has a ton of LGBTQ members. It's partly why my wife and I started going there years ago. Progressive churches in the south are not super easy to find.

You bet, any church that excludes gay or trans people, regardless of their reasons, is obviously completely missing the point of the entire Bible
