Overview of each class

Is there a YouTube video that explains all the different classes in Everquest for a beginner? The only one I could find was like 40 minutes long.

Thank you in advance.

If you just want a quick idea of which classes to think about, here is my ranking for a player's first class on a brand new server, best to worst:

1. Necromancer - Fairly easy to play, has a pet, and has Feign Death. Feign Death allows you to fake your death, which means any monsters attacking you will stop attacking you. Normally you need to leave the zone or run VERY far away to have monsters stop attacking you. This will save your life (and your experience bar) many times. They can be used to pull monsters into the group/raid. Great in raids.

2. Magician - Very easy to play, also has a powerful pet. Not as good as a Necromancer end game, and doesn't have Feign Death. Once you get to the point where you can start raiding, you will basically just be a teleport bot, and you can't use your pets.

3. Enchanter - Probably the most powerful class overall in the game. However, they are one of the harder classes to play. You will need to do some research on how to play them properly. They also have a bit of a slow start in terms of not getting great spells for the first 16 levels or so. Great in raids.

4. Bard - Very versatile character, even with little gear. Probably the hardest class to learn and play properly, however. You will be pressing a LOT of buttons, so may not be a good idea if you have problems with your hands. Can power level characters for a lot of money. Great in raids

5. Druid - Easy to play, and gets teleporting spells. If you don't mind teleporting other players for a good chunk of your play time, you can make a good amount of money this way. They can also power level low level characters for a lot of money. Used mostly for teleporting players to different raid locations when raiding. Some of their spells can only be cast outdoors, so they typically like to play outside of dungeons.

6. Shaman - Shamans start off slow for the first 24 levels, but end up being one of the most powerful classes in the game. Very expensive to gear. Great in raids.

7. Shadowknight - Probably the best starting melee class, as they get spells and Feign Death. They are used to pull monsters into the group. They are considered to be the worst raiding class, however, so be aware that you will mostly be soloing/grouping with this character.

8. Paladin - Also a melee class with spells. They don't get Feign Death, but they do get healing. Also a pretty bad raiding class, but better than Shadowknight as they do get a few class-specific things that are used in raids.

9. Monk - Very powerful melee DPS class, with Feign Death. Harder to gear than a Shadowknight/Paladin, and doesn't have spells. They are used for pulling monsters into the group/raid. Great in raids.

10. Wizard - Fairly easy to play, and also get teleporting spells. Considered to be the "worst class", so it's harder to get a group, but Wizards can solo very well. They will be used for teleporting players to different raid locations when raiding, and occasionally nuking specific raid bosses.

11. Ranger - Fairly easy to play, also considered to be the "worst class". They are a bit harder to play because some of their key spells can only be cast outdoors, so they typically like to play outside of dungeons. They are used in raids for some specific tanking situations.

12. Cleric - Easy to play, and the best healer in the game. Best raid healer in the game, too. Tougher to play as a solo class if you solo a lot.

13. Warrior - Easy to play, and the best raid tank in the game. However, they are extremely group/gear dependent, so they will be a hard class to start out as, unless you have a group of friends you are ready to play with. Great in raids.

14. Rogue - Easy to play, and the best melee DPS in the game. However, they are extremely group/gear dependent, so they will be a hard class to start out as, unless you have a group of friends you are ready to play with. Great in raids.

If you think 40 minutes is a long time then you may find EQ a little unforgiving.

If you're brand new to EQ start with druid or necromancer, then later once you know more about the game you can start thinking about another class. Druid is a super popular starter class because they have great utility spells for your quality of life and can easily make money from nothing by selling teleports. Necro is overall more powerful and fast to level though.

Take the "can make lots of money powerleveling" stuff on that big post above with a massive grain of salt, you're likely to find that to be a less accessible option as a brand new EQ player.

Oh I agree finding clients for powerleveling isn't easy. I simply gave some major points you could look forward to with each class. It is an option that is pretty unique to Druids/Bards. Other classes can do it to some extent, but the small amount of players looking for powerleveling services are going to search for Druids/Bards first.
