New Install Crash at Start

Hi all,

Returning after a break. I created a partition on my Mac and installed windows.

Similar to FAQ issue #1, when I go to run "Launch Titanium" I get an error message that says:

"The instruction at 0x000000001000F0CE referenced memory at 0x00000000FFFFFFFC. The memory could not be read."

So, per the FAQ, I attempted to locate the "eqclient.ini" file to edit within the EQ folder, but it doesn't seem to exist???

Anyway, just thought I'd ask if anyone has any ideas. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling a couple of times and the anti-virus has been disabled.

Thanks!

Brief update if it gives any additional context..

After adjusting compatibility mode from searching threads of similar issues, I now have an eqclient.ini file, but it is very sparse and doesn't contain the fields that are suggested to be edited. In fact, it just shows:

[Defaults]
Sound=TRUE
TextureQuality=1
VertexShaders=TRUE
20PixelShaders=TRUE
14PixelShaders=TRUE
1xPixelShaders=TRUE
MultiPassLighting=FALSE
UseLitBatches=TRUE

And that's all.

If you installed to program files, the client can't write to that location to generate the eqclient.ini file (unless you run it as admin), so it's generating it in your user profile's temp location under c:\users\<username>\appdata\...

Move your install out of program files. Then, the next time you start the game it will generate an ini file.

Thanks for the reply Mcoy. Did what you advised and did get the ini file, but it’s abnormally limited in what it contains (see my second post above). Not sure why I’m not getting the full file. I’ve installed p99 many many times over the years and have never seen this issue. Perplexing.

Got it fixed - for those curious, I traced it down to a driver issue between Apple/Windows on the bootcamp installation. Resolved immediately after downloading Apple Bootcamp support software to a flash drive and running it on the windows partition.

Thanks a lot!

I'm having the exact same issue described in the original post but I'm trying to set up the game on a PC running windows 10 pro. I uninstalled and created a file outside the program files called "project 99" and installed to that file but I'm still having the same problem.

I get the exact error message described by OldManNoPants and I also cannot find the "eqclient.ini" file.

Any suggestions would be appreciated but use small words, I'm pretty dumb with computers.
