Noob questions about MAG before I play as one.

I know that is suboptimal, but I wanna play anyway. So here is some questions

1 - IS easier to do the epic quest in Blue or Green?

2 - Is easier to get focus items in blue or green?

3 - HOw to deal with enemies with high FIRE and high MAG resist?

4 - Does the pet magical shields bypass resistances?

** Similar spells in other games, depends. Fireshield in BG2 bypass, I nnwn2, it doesn't bypass.

5 - What about the average time to kill in different levels?

For eg, takes about a minute to kill an "blue" forest giant as an lv 31 necromancer. How much time would take to do the same as an magician? And in high levels? Is truth that takes eternities to kill lv 55+ mobs as an mag?

6 - IS the Sword of Runes proc working in everything in BLUE??

https://wiki.project1999.com/Sword_of_Runes

This item.; I found information about it in green but not in blue

7 - IS the rain spells bugged?

8 - IS better to speicialize in conjuration?

1 - If you really want to do an epic quest I'd highly recommend NOT playing a magician.
2 - Probably about the same, if you wanted to just buy the pieces probably cheaper on blue.
3 - fight something else, or use fire pet with its unresistable DS.
4 - ^^^
5 - if using a fire pet about the same as your 31 nec example I'd guess, slower later of course as HP scales into the devils anus.
6 - procs on summoned mobs only as it should.
7 - no longer bugged i hear but it has a high resist chance.
8 - probably, specially if you solo exclusively and chain summon pets.

1. I'm not sure, I wanna say Green, but I don't know what the Hate situation is like on Blue right now.

2. I would say this is the same, they are easy to get on both servers. Do the quests for the minor ones and join a raiding guild to get the water/air staves.

3. Let them die to damage shield, chain summon pets, this works best outdoors but can be done indoors creatively.

4. The fire DS is unresistible so yes.

5. Mages generally kill mobs faster then necromancers because there's no dots or fear kiting. I think a mage levels to 55 a bit faster then necro, but 55+ necros are way faster mage. 55 + sucks for sure, but it doesn't take eternities to kill the mobs, just eternities to level.

6. Sword of Runes only procs on summoned mobs on both servers.

7. Rain spells work fine are excellent choices in the right circumstances.

8. Generally yes, but it depends on how you're going to level your character, what you plan on doing later. If you use the pet reclaim method to level then absolutely go conjuration there would never be a reason to do evocation. If you plan on nuking/using DS for 51% of the mob's hitpoints, or for doing mostly group content even at 60 then evocation would make sense. Your biggest cost spells are all conjuration though, CoTH, mod rods, pets etc.

Afid's mage guide on the wiki is really good for low levels, I used that one on my first mage and it was a blast following what he lays out.

Human. Why? Gnoll Fangs in Qeynos. Most people suggest races with higher INT.

Gnome mage is the only choice, honestly.

Wallhacks and being small in general is god tier.

Seems like the only choice unless you want to carry out shrink potions to do coth wall stuff.

I know high elves get a nice Tunare item. But not sure of any other racial advantages.

Yeah really hard to beat gnome for perma shrink. Stats wise it just doesn't matter any race does fine.

Shrink pots work just fine if you're willing to pay for fashion. Gnomes are fugly, for a coth bot always choose gnome. For an actual character, choose what you like, all the races are similar. New players don't need to min max.

Fixed that for you
