police need better weapons imo, even the best handguns in the world are limited by their size and weight distribution, so you can never get the balance that you can from a rifle.

FN Herstel has come a long way in bridging the divide between handgun and rifle, with the P90

Bullpups are good if you're in confined spaces, but still want the accuracy/effectiveness of a rifle.

So a lot of executive security carry them while riding in cars, etc. MP5 has a shorter barrel, so doesn't have the added benefit but they're great systems and have been battle tested a ton.

Yeah it probably is the best choice if you wanted to give cops SMGs. the p90 was the original, and has been updated to the P2000 and other models, including the famous and vaunted FN 5-7 handgun, which became standard for agencies like the secret service. P90 and 5-7 fire the same 5.7mm round

mp5 is like, a 60 year old design that was groundbreaking when it was first invented, but at the end of the day it just spits out 9mm dummies, and in the modern world today everyone has access to armor that laughs at 9mm.

H&K designed the mp4 to fire their 4.6mm round. this was part of a NATO commission to design a pistol/SMG round with stock armor piercing capabilities like the 5.56 NATO round has.
