Not sure how to patch the game for a missing file
 

I saw that Pacus had and fixed this issure back in 2019.

Digest version - when I went to log in the character screen went all wonky and I was given a link to tell me that a/which file was missing.

That files is:
spells_us.txt (3828781689)

Can anyone plz instruct me on how to fix this? Thanks so much in advance.

I would just try downloading the latest patch files and copying all those files into your install location.

Is the file included in the patch files?

If not, maybe a clean reinstall is needed.

I suppose this awesome vintage game is not supported and we ancients should KNOW what to do.

I don't know how or where i found a link to click, but now (4jan23) i am DL P99Files.57.zip. Hope that works.

Ok that worked. Copy and paste the whole DL to your P99 folder, overwriting all folders and files. I should've known this but its been 23 years.

Next problem...
Somewhere the sound got turned off.
After running the game, and clicking Accept, go to options and set sound on again. For me anyway.

Landyman - thanks for making this post and returning to say what worked for you. So many people don't do that and it helped me get back up and running quickly. Having the same sound issue but turning it back on (and verifying sound=TRUE in eqclient.ini) isn't working yet but hopefully i'll get that part figured.
