crashing when camping out i'm playing p99 in windowed mode. about 75% of the time when i camp out, the game crashes. is there any way to avoid this? |
|
Are you using compatibility mode on eqgame.exe? What os are you playing under? -Mcoy |

thank you for responsing :) i'm on windows 10. i forgot about compatibility mode, which i just changed to windows xp service pack 3. i actually used to have it on this mode on a previous install, and had the same problem. i'm not sure if that's the mode i should have it on now or not |

If sp3 doesn't work, try sp2. Seems to be either-or for win10. Are you still crashing on camping after enabling compatibility mode? I'd also consider using dgvoodoo2 if you're still experiencing issues - search the forums but basically it's just a few dll's you copy into your eq folder and an ini you can edit to remove the watermark. -Mcoy |

sp3 kept giving me a C++ framework error or something (can't remember) when i ran it. i'll try sp2 and see how it goes. i don't wanna log out right now (buffed up and equipped pet), but i actually changed it to windows 98 / Me compatibility mode and got it to run |

Test on green or red, while playing on blue or vice versa. Just copy eq folder so you’re making changes and running a separate instance/executable etc. |

i only play on red, but yes...i can give the other servers a shot. thanks |

Have you tried dgvoodoo? I used to crash about 20-30% of the time and this has it down to less than 1 in 15 or 20. https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...71#post3180271 I don't think the instructions include this, but if you copy the .exe in the zip you can use the config menu to remove the watermark. |

i changed compatibility mode to windows 98 / Me, and it fixed the problem (using windows xp with any service pack kept giving me errors). i've probably camped 30 times with no issues. thanks, everyone :) |
