nah not at all, most people saw it for what it really was by the 3rd or 4th month.
the world saw a highly communicable disease spread super fast, then panic'd and realized that a .001 death rate isn't really a big deal. At this point it became hyper-politicized because if you're a government and you make a decision you have to stand behind that decision otherwise you look weak if you backpeddle, look at all the havoc Fauci caused by saying "Don't mask up, ok yeah mask up"
then everyone fell into ranks along political lines. Yeah of course alot of people tried to use a "minor crisis" to manufacture a major crisis but once that never hit, everyone was like, "Yeah ok whatever mr. govt", while 85% of broadcast media is owned by 4 mega-corps who share similiar agendas, of course they would be the loudest voice.
6 months go by and the entire nation is pissed as fuck because they can't twerk in clubs or gorge on buffets and it all it took was a little stoke of the flames to get hundreds of thousands of pissed off people to take to the streets.
This was a dynamic, fast paced situation with actors from every angle scrambling to gain control, make money, or simply just not lose money. no one group or political affiliation is exempt from blame.
and that's the year 2020 in a nutshell.
