Allakhazam Clone for P99

I was searching the web for a mirror or clone of Allakhazam when I ran into this project on the eqemulator website. I would love to see this implemented for the P99 server since the Allakhazam database is so crowded now with the new stuff, plus you can't search the DB unless you are a premium subscriber. I installed it on my webserver (see exemple) and it was pretty straight forward, the problem is that I don't have access to the P99 databases so I can't go any further with it, and thats why I decided to post this to see if Rogean and Nilbog would like the idea, maybe they can implement this as a side project just like the wiki.

That's cool but wiki.project1999.org is basically 80% of the way there already.

Yes but the wiki does not have items and where to find them and such and such. What if we has players filled it in as we go. Just put in a tab that players could submit info and someone could verify it before it goes through. I think this would be a cool idea, I have up so many different web pages at the same time because I can not get all the info from one page. That includes the P99 wiki page.

For example I just started an Iksar Shaman, I did not know for a buff that you need snake scales. The P99 wiki page did not say there was a reagent for the spell or where to get it. I had to got to EQ traders to find out what vendors had it since only sakes drop them and there are none in the lower level zones outside of Cabilis. But to my surprise none of the vendors the site mentioned had them either. I went around every vendor, took me two hours (a mini quest, to find snake scales) and found that Klok Acet in The Field of Bones sells them.

P.S. I official submit this info to the P99EQ Traders
P.S.S. It would also be nice to have a place to search for quests by class as well.

I disagree, there are very few quests and there is no items database. The wiki is a very nice reference don't get me wrong, but its not even close to Allakhazam.

Why don't you people just start adding info to the wiki?

Seems like a whooole lot of work has been done on the wiki already,

who's going to take the time to roll a whole new website and start adding content?

Dantes 07-12-2011 01:51 PM

Quests and additional items can be added to the WIKI without much trouble. The problem with Alla's is that you've got so much useless information coming from recent zone revamps, item revamps, etc it's hard to sort out what's actually true here on P99 -- unless you know from memory. And whether or not a fresh install of this utility mentioned here will work depends on how clean the DB is. Is it a simple plug and play solution? Or will we have a bunch of items from later expansions showing up?

But that's a wiki, which is automatically a pain in the ass because it's just boring pages of text, and a lot of the info in there is wrong/misleading/whatever because just about anyone can contribute, and only small handful of people actually know what they are talking about or take the time to actually research the stuff before submitting it.
