Max Damage
 

I thought about posting in Bugs, but thought this might just be something I'm not aware of.

Details:

• I'm a level 16 human paladin.
• My base str is 88 without buffs.
• I'm using a Firerune Brand (21/40).

Yesterday I was hitting yard trash in Unrest and random low mobs in newbie zones for 40 max damage, as expected at my level. I'm reasonably sure this was often without a str buff, and absolutely sure it wasn't with any buff better than a 14 druid can provide.

Today I am hitting for 28 max on the same creatures, and with a much higher 2HS skill.

I heard the server went down last night, but it doesn't seem like this could happen without a patch. Am I missing something?

40 is max until level 20.

I've heard max is 20 until level 10, and 40 until level 20. I've grouped with others in the Oasis of Marr who were hitting for 40 as well.

20 is max till level 10, 40 is max until level 20. After that damage cap is removed (at 20).

Yeah 20 is max for 1-10, 40 is max for 11-20 and then damage cap gets removed at 20 I believe or it's 30, its been too long.

Did you happen to have a bard or anything in your group causing an extra attack/str boost?

For quite a while it was just me, a warrior, a cleric, and a druid. A ranger joined later. I'm pretty sure I was fighting buffless at points during the group, as well as before and after, and getting hits for 40 then as well.

You sure you did enough testing? Damage cap is definitely 40 until 20 unless this got stealth broken recently

Been hitting with it for at least an hour, nothing above 28.

I feel like 28 was a damage cap somewhere for some class... trying to research right now
