HoH a good option for a warrior?

For what? Leveling solo/duo:trio? Sure.

But a reaver is better.

For tanking raid content? Maybe as an offhand, once you have a massive aggro lead, on mobs AC even matters on. I’ve done that heaps

A level 60 Warrior with 255 STR and 100% Haste is doing roughly 67 DPS with HoH mainhand and Blade of Carnage offhand against a trash mob around level 60.

A level 60 Warrior with the same stats against the same trash mob is doing 66 DPS with Reaver.

In the low 50s HoH and BoC will out DPS Reaver because the 2H damage bonus is lower. HoH and BoC is like 42 DPS vs Reaver's 38 DPS for a level 50 Warrior with 255 STR and 100% Haste fighting a mob around level 50.

All that being said, Reaver only costs around 5k, and HoH + BoC is like 160k total. If you are rich and have nothing to spend money on, HoH will serve you well DPS wise until you get no drop raid weapons. If you aren't rich, HoH isn't worth it.

Isn't there a flat hate bonus per swing meaning as a tanking warrior you're almost always better off with 2x 1h if you're going to disregard procs anyway?

Depends a lot on the content you do also. BOC and HOH are pretty solid statwise if you don't just want resists. If you're raiding or poor, reaver all the way I guess.

It seems the big barrier for most people is are you able to tolerate missing a couple times in a row with a slow 2 hander? :D

Warrior piercing caps at 240. The rest are 250.

His damage calculator takes it into account and 1Hs still come on top.

For weapon skills specifically my calculator is using the highest weapon skill cap for each class. This is so people don't need to specify 1hb, 1hs, piercing, etc. every time they change weapon stats.

You can manually set all the relevant skills, including weapon skill, by turning off "scaleOffensiveSkillsBasedOnPlayerLevel". The variables below that are for your main hand weapon skill, offhand weapon skill, offense skill, double attack skill, and dual wield skill.

When setting the mainhand weapon skill to 240 instead of defaulting to 250, DPS from HoH + BoC drops by 1 DPS. So both Reaver and HoH + BoC will do 66 DPS at level 60 with 255 STR and 100% Haste against a trash mob around level 60. At level 50 HoH + BoC still out DPSes Reaver.


So thank you to Naethyn for bringing that up. In the end it didn't change the DPS enough to matter.

No. There is not a flathate bonus.

There is a hate bonus directly calculated from weapon damage and damage bonus.

2H aggro is fine, due to larger weapon damage, and damage bonus.

I’d burn the plat in damage shield potions or bribe people for buffs. That and a reaver will go further. Stuff like an Eyepatch of Plunder too.

The HoH money going to an Eyepatch of Plunder MQ is a smart move. I did the camp once myself. Will never do it again. I got super lucky and a quake happened while I was watching. Everyone else in line was AFK. Was able to pay for the Lodi map off the people who killed Lodi too. Got the whole thing done in like 30 mins.
