Project 1999 - NPC Spawn Issue: Feb2000

Khrix Fritchoff was added to Unrest with the introduction of the Summoning of Dread quest in Feb2000.

ok i am a 36druid and have been in unrest for a very long time killing things. i will state things about this guy that i know.

1. he is new and supposedly for the panieel(sp?) quest but no facts yet.

2. when hailed he does not respond even when in wolf and is dub faction

3. his pet is great exp from 28-34(was one of first ppl to kill this pet and i recoamend(sp?) a 2person group 1druid with heal wolf and DS and some type of tank hopefully a war with exe axe hehe)

4. there is a triger for this guy to make a lvl 38-49 that supposedly gives exp to a lvl 50 war. you have to give this guy an item that is a common drop in the zone(not figured it out yet) and he will make this ghoul spawn in room next to magi room(warn magi room ppl might not like being killed hehe)

There is a gnome necromancer that has been experimenting with a powder used in the reanimating long dead organic tissue. He is known to frequent places populated by undead in order to pursue his research. Seek him out and procure a bit of his powder.

John - There is a new NPC in Unrest. He is a gnomish necro of 35-36th level, and he has a pet that cons blue to a 34. He responded to hails by "Close the door, you will spoil my hiding place." He did not respond to any questions we asked him. Upon death, he dropped nothing, not even cash

There seems to have been a faction requirement to obtain a hail response. Dubious was insufficient; indifferent was sufficient. This may already be in place, but mentioning it in case it isn't.

Per these patch notes, Khrix is flagged to require Greater Lightstones instead of Fire Beetle Eyes in Nov2000. It appears this flag should be set earlier.

The abomination does spawn if you give khrix a fire beetle eye. The animation is in the higher 30s. not 49. Also, there is a very good reason why paineel quests are ERU NEC or ERU cleric (evil). Because guess who starts in paineel? Erudite necromancers and Erudite evil clerics!! If this kind of quests were to exist for other race/class combos, they'd be elsewere. (wouldn't want a pally quest in there, would you?)

I gave him a firebeetle eye and nothing happened, no abombo anywhere, I searched all of unrest and heard no newbie screams. I then killed him since it was a ranger friends beetle eye :) I am a level 40 paladin and he hurt me pretty good, but I didn't have all my buffs up either.

I think they changed it, instead of giving the gnome a fire beetle eye, you have to give him a Greater Lightstone. then you go to the room behind him and kill the Abomination

He asks for a Greater Light Stone now, not a fire beetle eye.

I didn't find a comment from someone attempting the quest in Jul2000, so the change may have occurred then, but certainly by August.
