Is there any advantage of giving Mage epic or EoT weapons?

I know it forces dual wield on lower level pets giving them a torch. Does giving a high lv charmed et or an epic mage pet/necro EoT do anything unless it has a proc on it?

On another note, which weapons are cheap to farm for pets?

Can't speak for the other classes, but Mage pets get innate dual wield starting at level 44 (https://wiki.project1999.com/Magicia...by_type_of_Pet), and I suspect this is true for Necros also.

As for pet weapons, I like to use the stun whips from South Karana gnolls, but really I tend to just throw any random (but cool looking) weapon I find onto my pet. The proc won't make a difference in a raid setting, but I like having my per look unique when it stands next to several carbon copies.

Unsure if accurate because I haven't tested it thoroughly - but I have a feeling that some charmed pets actually lose dual wield unless they have a weapon equipped.

I suspected it with a Greater War Boned skeleton in City of Mist. They are monk mobs, so have innate dual wield. But, when charmed: their DPS is lower non-torched than with torch. I tried paying attention to animation, and seemingly didn't see an offhand punch. I just started gathering data on this but:

I posit that charming a mob actually strips its dual wield capability, and you have to give it weapons / a torch for it to dual wield.

If you somehow find a weapon that'll increase it's damage above default, then it would benefit same as any other pet does. Since these are very high level, high-hitting pets, there are not a lot of weapons that'll do this, and one of the famous stand-bys (weighted axe) is nerfed on P99.

Some weapons aren’t pet-flagged. Any 30dmg weapon will make any pet hit for a max of 61 with the MH (2x dmg +1). With a 60 mage I have a bunch of Argent Defenders (67 hitter) banked. That and deadwood staves.

I thought I heard once that EoT won’t take two deadwood’s but no clue if that is true.
