New to P99!

Hail and well met everyone!

I have been a long time mmo player, from vanilla eq to wow and everything in between?! My capt at work brought this site/game to my attention, so being a HUGE vanilla eq fan, I had to jump onboard! I'm still currently in the process of getting the game/emulator installed on my laptop, but once I can launch into the game, my plans are to make a Barb Shammy, my all time FAV from back in the day! So here's my Q for yall - any advice, words of wisdom yall can give me to make my transition easier back into the game??

Please and thanks!!

Sounds great! Q - can I still utilize the database on Alla's etc.. for quest info, mobs, etc..??

You can - if you know what will and won't be outdated. Some of the info is good if the zones haven't been revamped. I use Alla for mobs and quests, and http://www.thesilversandbox.net/p1999/main.php for spells/tradeskills. If something is wrong on Alla I usually just google <whatever I want> classic everquest. The wiki also has a lot of good info. http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Main_Page

Thanks for a link to the Wiki! I can see that'll be a very useful site!!

The wiki has most of the maps you'll ever need. But if you can't find the one you want, http://www.eqmacwiki.com/eqatlas/atlas.html has all of them. They're the classic maps that I used to use back in the day. Real life savers :)

Only other thing is don't get discouraged if the area around Halas seems under-populated...because it just is. Most of the lower levels stick to the Freeport side of things. I was able to group just fine in Blackburrow back in the day, you'll just have to be a little pro-active in finding a tank!

Have fun and good luck!

Ok... I "dled" a clean version of Titanium, installed, and then did everything on this site and the eqemulator site... but when I go to log in, I get a time out error?! I checked the faq, and I either screwed up somewhere, or the log in server is down?! Can someone please verify this for me?? A quick text to 850-502-6907 would help tons!!!

madcowmisha 08-07-2011 09:05 PM

Could it be that I used a "dled" version of Titanium?? From the file description, it talked about using this on the actual eqemulator site, and the steps required to do so?!
