Time to start rationing water, canned goods, and ammunition. I would say we have less than a year until tribes begin forming and cannibals start ravaging the country.

itt: someone with absolutely no perspective on our actual fiscal situation shares his 15 word or less opinion on the future.

note - dont forget that not everyone who reads this board gets their news from the internet, and may actually work in the industry.

Slathar 08-07-2011 07:16 PM

Are you trying to say this isn't a bad thing?

k1n0 08-07-2011 07:16 PM

You're right. News from the internet is stupid and always wrong. I mean it isn't like the Dow Futures is down 230 points and free falling. That can't be true, because that information is from the internet. Or that Israel's market halted trading. Or that Dubai's market was down over 5%. All of it just internet propaganda.

azeth 08-07-2011 07:30 PM

to be completely serious -

nothing you read on the internet, or hear about in the news has absolutely any bearing on the perspective you ought to take in regards to your finances. i understand the thrill of posting links as scare tactics, but realistically cut this shit out.

Slathar 08-07-2011 07:33 PM

I'm confused, though. This is obviously horrible. I don't see how you being in the industry has anything to do with what I said. What is the purpose of your posts?

Obviously, my original post was sarcastic, but things are going to be bad Monday morning. Look at the Middle-east markets and the Asian markets (30 minutes to open!)

Slathar, if you're being serious man - as in if you have some $ invested somewhere in the market whether it be 401k, non fiduciary, even a Roth IRA, i seriously seriously (as in in real life you'd owe me money) suggest you do not whatsoever act on your $ in response to anything you hear about on the internet.

watch. c. n. b. c.

My financial health isn't really what worries me as so much as the state of the nation. I was just trying to get a dialogue started in Off Topic on the decline of America.

History shows that all great empires meet the same fate. China, for example. Like a phoenix, though, they've risen from their ashes and now our overlords.
