Rain Caller

Wanted to do my rangers Rain Caller tonight, but guess its not happening.

Was wondering if/when its going to be fixed/implemented? Haynar responded to my post in server chat awhile back saying its gonna be implemented.

Rain Caller

Quest: Rain Caller

Also, The item currently is a clicky proc, but thats not how it was originally, and this poster is backing me up. It was a proc:

They create Quests that are great at first then they nerf them so most people won't bother with them....That's just stupid.

Technically, they didn't nerf anything. The Rain Caller quest, in its inception, was an epic weapon quest, after a sort. It was the best bow available to rangers, at the time.

However, as new expansions were released, new items that were bigger and better came about, and obviously replaced previous items. Hell, end-game gear from the original world isn't even considered good enough to be called twink gear for a fresh character, anymore (as is evident with this bow, even). The point of the matter is that at one point in time, not only was this "the sh*t", but it was what was available. That's like hitting max level, and then complaining Rusty weapons are taking up valuable item space because they're worthless. The problem is that in creating new, valid content, old content will become...dismissable. It's still a great quest, and maybe the reward isn't worth it since you can just toss a bit of plat at someone in the Bazaar for something that's exponentially better, stat-wise, but the real reward of doing a quest is the feeling of accomplishment you get when you hold the item, knowing you worked for it. Whether holding it is to stuff it in your bank, or to equip it is up to you. :P

Everything has its place...before you bash an item, you should consider the era it came from...talking about it 6 years after the fact doesn't mean it was ALWAYS a "stupid piece of junk."

Yes, they did nerf the bow itself (by changing the proc to a charged clicky)...beyond lacking sufficient reason for doing so, technically, it wasn't a nerf to anyone but those on the progression servers, anyway (since, obviously no one is going to use this on any other server). Maybe they felt the bow was too powerful in its original design, but never bothered changing it by the time they decided it should be, since it had already become outdated because it was a "stupid piece of junk".

The Thunderbolt is a great bow, yes, but...apples and oranges, my friend.
Apples and oranges.

Just out of curiosity, why does my skill window in EQ show the skill Hand to Hand if there are no hand to hand weapons that I can equip?

So you can punch stuff.
The fact that they did it way after the fact is kinda dumb as well, but originally it was a proc.

Would love to be able to get this !!! = D

It was changed to a proc for a reason, 350 DD on a bow is way too OP for classic. Its no different then when rogues were running around with a 15 damage off hand weapon from Blackburrow.

Everything is so strictly classic like, such as pet buffs no longer showing durations, why show mercy to an item like this, which can be game changing dps wise?

Keeping class/race penaltys? Might as well keep this to a clickie and not a proc.

I think you have this backwards.

I would much rather have a proc than a clicky with limited charges.
And if we are going by classic it should be a proc on this server.
It's the least we can do for the most underused class on the server.

Taluvill 03-31-2010 03:04 PM

PLEASE keep it a proc.

100% agree with guinea.

Somekid, you do look a bit backwards hehe

Hate to do this, but bump.

Been killing gorillas in Cazic Thule every few days trying to get the quest piece to drop...

would like to see if the quest at least has any plans on being worked on so i know if i need to stop trying and give up on it ?

Aeshe 04-06-2010 01:06 PM

I have three problems with this quest. The 10 unstacked fuzzlecutter formulas will not combine in the tonic crate for me. Secondly the enchanter in Felwhite will not respond to any of the quest prompts. (This is not to big of a deal since it is not required) And third the gorillas don't drop hair. I haven't tried killing the mermaid yet since not important when the easy parts are not working. Is this quest going to be fixed? Wish I had known this was bugged before I worked my fletching up and made a true shot longbow =(

lamruil 04-06-2010 06:52 PM

Yeah without Rain Caller, and it procing, I have no idea why Eq classic even mentioned archery. Quest is kinda a must for any ranger, shame its not working.

kerry7784 04-09-2010 07:18 AM

Please fix this quest. Rangers don't get enough love as it is.

mudvayne1812 04-09-2010 05:39 PM

Rangers don't need any love. There is way too many of them anyway.... Rangers trying to tank... Trying to DPS... Should prolly just go ahead and ban em for griefing my groups.
