dorf pld - agi@70 - how bad is it?

Just realized that I didn't pump agi to 75 on creation. Only level 5, but untwinked that's still a good amount of time invested. Seems trivial, but is it going to be an issue moving forward?

Yes, with agi below 75 you will move forward substantially slower.

Mardur 10-20-2011 11:53 PM

.............lol.

Agi doesn't affect runspeed. You receive an AC penalty under 75 though, which is not good for a tank. Try to find a piece of gear with +5 agility quickly. Luckily it's one of the cheapest and most easily raised stats. This is why I never put points into agility on creation even if the character will start under 75.

Encumber yourself to 30 agility then go for a walk, then come back here and appologize.

Lol, I think it's literally been 1999 since I heard someone make the argument that agility affects runspeed. Halflings run faster than ogres!

Being encumbered decreases run speed as well as decreases your agility. The decreased run speed is not a direct effect of the decreased agility. You're seeing two negative effects and assuming one is causing the other when in actuality they're unrelated (except both being caused by encumbrance). Test: someone encumbered by 100 weight with 200 agility and someone encumbered by 100 weight with 1 agility will run at the same speed.

You're bad at EverQuest and you can't spell apologize correctly. You apologize.

actually getting a good buffer above 75 is not a bad idea, especially for the early levels when you may go encumbered carrying too much noob loot and drop below the 75 agi threshold.

spending creation points to do this is probably a waste though

moral of the story: buy a serpentine bracer, problem solved

I don't think the OP was asking about run speed at all, but rather asking about the AC effects.

Having played a paladin in live classic with only 70 agility, it was always very frustrating to me making sure I was always using gear with at least +5 agility. I'd bite the bullet and start over with at least 5 points stuck into agility.

Mardur 10-21-2011 12:52 AM

You can use a piece of black pearl jewelry or a serp bracer or any number of items until you get Valorium Greaves (7 AGI). When you upgrade to Deepwater Greaves, those still have 7 AGI. That's your best in slot until Velious, and Velious gear has so many stats you won't have to worry about 5 points of AGI.

Don't waste starting points.

Like Mardur said, Serpentine bracers are stupid cheap. Not great gear but will hold you off until you can grab a decent piece of gear with 5agil and other stats/more AC.

That runspeed comment was pretty bad.

Kassel I'm waiting for my apology.
