Food size duration is not respected.

Per the other thread on this - http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...7846#post37846 - it looks like this is a legit bug.

A "snack" sized food lasts as long as a "miraculous meal" sized food.

I made up a serving up fish rolls (0.1 weight, banquet meal sized food) and found they were being eaten at the same rate as a normal water flask.

Food duration wasn't added until Luclin when stat food started to show up.

There was without question food duration at launch. I remember distinctly that Iron Rations lasted almost twice the amount of time regular rations did.

The difference with Luclin was that was when stat food did arrive and also longer duration food. Prior to that, I believe Iron Rations were king of the hill...they were a pain because they were more expensive and heavier, but food/drink was very much a real issue pre-luclin.

Not much of an issue iirc. The way I remember it..

Iron rations lasted longer than ration. Ration lasted longer than muffin.

Fuzzlecutter 5000 lasts longer than water. Water lasted longer than milk.

I might be wrong about this...trying to find old stuff. WIll post if I do.

Well, I remember it being an issue at low and mid levels...iron rations were expensive.

God - I could swear that duration was in the original world at launch...but the patch note is telling me otherwise. Must continue my search....grrrr.

** Food Changes **

- Food items now have a 'duration'. This means that some food items
will not sustain a character as long as others, and some items will
sustain your character longer than they did before.

The above would put it in Velious era though.. Luclin was December 01, Velious was December 2000.

I would have swore that food duration was classic.

Why was Fuzzlecutter so popular? Did people just not realize that it
wasn't lasting any longer?

maegi 02-10-2011 03:20 PM

i know people that buy the fuzzlecutter even now cuz they "believe" it's longer lasting even though i tell them it isn't

Food durations and stats have been covered many times on the forums.

My guess would be that durations were one of the many things that they intended on messing around with then they launched EQ but never got around to it till later on. This is no different than the fact that there were many recipes in classic that you could find throughout the world that did not actually get added to the game till Kunark.

Again, this is just my guess, but until I see proof otherwise, all food had the same duration UNTIL the changes to food duration were implemented. It really makes no less sense than any other silly classic things (like clerics with + intelligence gear).
