SK vs WAR
So I know there are tons of these 'class x vs class y' threads that infest the forums. I'm not looking for any sort of general comparison, just real stats on damage out and damage in for shadow knights and warriors.
I've been seeing some pretty impressive performances by SK's recently and when I looked up the gear on the wiki, it seems almost the same, for example the SK epic is 40/45 while the warrior epic is 36/41, i.e. almost exactly the same ratio. AC wise the Blood Ember BP is 40 compared to the Cobalt BP's 45. So it seems to me that offensively warriors and SK's would be almost identical, while defensively perhaps the warrior might take 5-10% less damage. Which means at high level it's basically the SK's spells versus the Warrior's defensive and mighty strike disciplines. |
SK is better on this server since WAR taunt is broken.
SK better offensively and for aggro control. WAR better raid tank and that's about it. |
SK better offensively? What? I've experienced warriors being much more DPS.
There will be a patch where warrior taunt will work on higher level mobs. If you wait this out, warrior's will prove to be better tanks overall. |
That's my point hexum - I don't see why, if they are using basicaly the same weapons.

Warrior gets higher skill caps, crits/crips and dual wield.

Apples to oranges. Skill caps and dual-wield.
The resembalance between sk/pal and warrior ends with "tank that wears plate armor". |

PVP I'd say SK has the advantage, but not necessarily when fighting against a warrior at full HP. In levelling groups and soloing SK also has the advantage due to disease cloud taunt, ghetto CC and so soloing the snare-fear kiting ability. You pay for all this in a penalty of 50% less exp compared to a warrior. Fully geared and levelled I'd say it is general consensus that the warrior has the advantage in groups.

Or just roll a Monk and you can tank/pull and deal awesome damage.
Once upon a time there was an untwinked level 52 monk in City of Mist. In front of the Monk there was a twinked level 54 Shadow Knight with a level 60 Cleric companion. The Shadow Knight pulled a a mist golem, a few seconds later the Monk also pulled one. The Monk killed the a mist golem, then the monk pulled another a mist golem and killed it as well. Then the Monk looked over at the SK and Cleric to see that they was still fighting the first mist golem... |
Raid tanking = Warrior. Defensive, higher skill caps, better armor.
Group/Leveling tanking = SK. Snap aggro for very low mana cost. DPS = Warrior. Dual wield, higher skill caps, better offensive disciplines. However, there is nothing in Kunark that cannot be tanked by a SK, but a Warrior's defensive discipline makes it easier and midnight mallets cover a Warrior's lack of snap aggro. With Velious being the final end-game (as far as this server's intended timeline looks like for now), Warrior's will really pull away as far as tanking during the Velious era. There are some mobs, like Statue, Idol, and AoW, that are just untankable without defensive, and the likes of AoW was tanked by charmed NPCs before he was tanked by Player Characters. |
