Specialization

Is this working? I thought the area you chose would often fire a less mana based spell. Such as, Gheal being 150m, specialize:alteration makes it fire for 80m?

It's a random (i.e. rare) effect which gives you a 10% mana savings; GH would cost 135m instead of 150m.

Pretty sure spec is not random. I used to be a druid on live and if Scirocco posted it, you could bank on it being the way it worked.

In case link doesn't work, here is copy of text.

There are no "specialization checks". You get a certain mana savings every time you cast, based on your spec skill level, and also on your SCM skill.

Basic Specialization Savings (for 50 and 200 spec):
50 = 3% savings EVERY TIME, no check performed
200 = 11% savings every time

SCM1, add 2% savings (5% or 13%)
SCM2, add 5% savings (8% or 16%)
SCM3, add 10% savings (13% or 21%)

Has anyone noticed it working though? I have not been able to notice.

Unfortunately that is from 2002 and under an AA discussion and so is inadmissable as evidence for change.

I knew someone would say that, but they are two separate issues. SCM just augmented what was ALREADY in place for specialization. Specialization didn't magically change when AA's were introduced. You can make the argument about the date of the post but one doesn't preclude the other. I understand the onus of proof has been setup here to force the burden on whoever wants something changed to show why it should be changed and not on the devs to demonstrate why something is the way it currently is as opposed to what the overwhelming majority of players remember it to be.
