Haste - How does it work?

Mith 2h is listed as 31% haste, has a 40 or 41 delay, does this mean with the haste it would actually be like 2.8?

Quote:

New (Hasted) Delay = Delay/(1+Haste) (Haste as a decimal)
For your specific case:

ND = (Mith 2h DLY)/(1 + (Mith 2h Haste)) = 40 / (1 + 0.31) = 40/1.31 = 30.53, probably rounded to 31.

Haste doesn't reduce delay on a 1:1 ratio. It doesn't technically reduce delay but rather speeds up swings per second and whatnot. However, the formula does have the effect of reducing delay. The formula i have always found was tobe 75% of listed haste %.

For example, Dirk Dunderhead wielding the mithril 2h (21/40) at 31% haste the delay would be:
31*.75 = .2325, so reduce the 40 delay by that .2325. Therefore 40*.7675=30.7, round to 31...In this scenario, you can figure its a 21dmg/ 40 delay weapon, which is .525 ratio (not too shabby).... :D

Hmm, both formulae end up resulting very close, i still prefer mine....

Thanks

You are correct that haste technically increases swing rate, not decrease time between swings (minor difference in formulation), but the rest of your post is simply wrong. The haste section of the P99 wiki is accurate, please utilize that. I am not trying to call you out, but simply trying to quell the spread of misinformation.

Actually he's right... after doing more calculations i see how as haste gets higher the gap widens quite a bit.... Guess I'll stick to healing... hehe
