A connection to the server could not be reached.

Well, I've tried everything twice with no success. I can't seem to connect to the server. The majority of the time when I try to log in with my account, I get an error message that "A connection to the server could not be reached." I rarely make it to the character select screen, but I've never made it into the game.

Things I have tried:
  • Reinstalling a fresh eq titanium.
  • Allowing security access to all the eq folders.
  • Manually patching eq by changing the eqhost file, downloading the latest files, etc.
  • Using eqemu to patch.
  • Using Duxa's setup.
  • Resetting my modem.
  • Restarting my computer after changes.

The only times i seem to get into the character screen are when I first reinstall titanium. But it says my files are out of date. When I get the latest files, I can't connect at all.

The game works fine on my laptop, which has windows 7 and is really no different than my desktop, but with no dedicated graphics card and a dual-core processor.

Any help would be appreciated.

I got that message after I tried to log in 1. before changing the path and 2. clicking the exe without admin rights.

Have you considered just copying your folder from laptop to desktop to see if it works ?

Not ideal, but if you're repeating the same installation steps as you did on the laptop, then it's either something about the files IN your EQ folder, OR something about the networking of that particular computer that's causing the problem.

That's a pretty good idea, thanks.

Yeah, that worked! Thanks a bunch for the idea.

Well, let me rephrase. It worked once. I crashed on zone and am now having the same connectivity issues I was before.

Weird. So check this out.

It was my wireless internet card.

WTF right? My internet was acting a little glitchy, but still worked pretty well. I just replaced it today and everything works perfektly.

I realize this won't help very many people, but I thought replacing the card was a huge shot in the dark.
