Ways to tell if someone enters my room (need suggestions)
So my university roommate is nice enough but inconsiderate and doesn't respect boundaries. Does anyone have suggestions to be able to tell if my room has been entered while I am away?

Get one of the newer webcam that triggers and event on motion and then emails your smart phone. Then you can even see who it is via the smart phone app.

stop hiding coke in the underside of your left pillow and he wouldn't bother u tbqh

Here's a free one...doesn't have the smart phone ability but if you search I'm sure there's one out there.

Scotch tape.

Take a single strand of hair and secure it between the latch bolt and the strike plate. Have it so you can see it(but only if you are looking for it) when you are looking at the door from outside your room. If the door opens, the strand of hair will be blown away so all you have to do is make sure the hair is still intact when you come back. Make sure your roommate doesn't see you trying to secure the hair though as it would be an awkward conversation and he would just replace the hair. :D

You obviously have a computer (and probably a laptop if you're at college), use the built in webcam. Or buy one if your computer is ancient and doesn't have one already in it.
I used to do that exact thing when maintenance would come do stuff at my apartment when I wasn't there because they were shady as fuck. Caught them stealing a pack of batteries and several pieces of flatware. |
lol its easier then all this
take a piece of string and tap it above your door make sure it falls on the inside when you leave then if they come in it will fall on the outside also put a /stuff animal something small and moveable if the door is opened it will move the object buy a deer camera :P set it up in your room facing the door any movement triggers the camera check its usb drive when you get home :D |
Or you could just hire a midget, dress it in a teddy bear costume and sit in your room all day?

Also, you could rig up some laser triggered alarm system that causes a very load siren to sound and the only way to shut off the siren is if you enter a passcode or something so your roommate won't be able to shut it off. It will not only tell you if your roommate entered your room, but he probably won't be wanting to go into your room again when you leave. :D |
