I wonder the same thing about stockings. Here in Britain, we have come to term with stockings, and most of us are quite comfortable with them.

But a few pints or a few sherrys -- for this issue bridges class, of that I can assure you -- and we wonder and start to dispute, once you allow stockings aren't you basically approving of strangling people using uderwear?

Many a night these arguments got quite heated. Fortunately, none of us were about to risk a run in our stickings -- they are quite costly, the good ones anyway. But anyway, I see the OP's point.
