By articles, do you mean those forum threads you posted in the locked thread? If so, then I don't have to read them because I was there :P
I leveled to above 55 in Illuvitae, the biggest Kunark/Velious elf team guild. At the time, the server was largely (not entirely) leaning toward being elf/short/human vs dark, and I lost count of the times "lighty" guild high elf clerics would immy heal against us. It was frustrating and unfair, but looking back, I loved it. It really helped to give me a sense of in-game purpose; a reason to continue fighting. They felt they had to cheat to defeat us, but we didn't give up. Eventually it led to a guildwar between us and an elf-only guild (Elven Royal Guard) that allied itself with shorts/humans. Was one of the most epic and buggy things to occur in an MMO, I'm sure

The softcoded teams really allowed for some crazy and unique experiences, and I'm so glad I got to experience them. Softcoded teams applied here would just result in FFA pvp, but with %r hotkeys.
Hardcoded teams eliminate all of the problems you're talking about, and they're what's really needed on our server.
