main turnoffs of games after eq1 (and later in eq1, post velious):

-items with required and recommended level (ruined twinking, bad for economy)
-auction house (ruined player based economy)
-bind on equip items (again, ruined economy)
-pointless quests (kill x amount of mobs, loot x amount of items) just for exp
-instances (again bad for economy, bad for true competitiveness)
-generic gear at every level, like wow had tunic "of the eagle", wristbands "of the eagle" at every level.. eq1 had is right, random nameds dropped the gear.. and some gear dropping in a lvl 20 dungeon was as valuable as something that may have dropped in a raid zone.. a true supply and demand economy
-again with generic gear, like the pvp sets.. everyone in wow (for example), had pretty much the same shit and looked the same at every tier of levels
-not a fan of mounts either, or stuff that makes travel too easy and trivializes someone like a druid or wizard who has the unique ability to port

im missing alot, but these are some big ones.. much is economy-based.. eq1 economy pre SOL is the best

my dream game would be eq1-style pre SOL, with a solid true WORLD pvp system (and some sort of arena with teams built in i would say too, by not the way wow did it), but also updating the combat/abilities/etc.. eq1 is obviously very raw in this compared to a wow

not happening tho
