This happens for me even playing at 1440x900 in windowed mode using the native client. I found that it was because my in-game refresh rate didn't match that of my monitor (either EQ ignored it or switched it on my anyways). If you go to where you choose your resolution, color depth - you will also see refresh rate, try to make that match your monitor or your desktop-preference. EQ was picking up 60Hz when my monitor was running at 75Hz and makes me font all blurry.
