Everyone needs money, especially healers who can't solo and are constantly sitting in the back medding.
If you're concerned about being overweight, then just delete the money. If you're too lazy to do that, then don't play a monk. As a bard i often don't have time to chat because i'm constantly twisting songs. Do i auto-play one song and make the group suffer because my need to chat supercedes the needs of the group? No. I twist, that comes with the class.
So is deleting money when you're playing a monk.

Having a monk, I can 100% support this. Additionally you would have to receive a A LOT of shared loot in order for your AC to start to suffer to the point where you are crippled.
