I take nothing personal. I just wanted to argue for a sense of nostalgia. Before I played EQ I was a longtime member of a messageboard and a few subsequent incarnations of it, and I was meaner and more cruel than the worst people here combined. I love to argue with people just for the sake of arguing and it took a long time to get over the repressed anger and violence my childhood instilled in me.
I don't want to make anyone cry, male or female, nor make anyone quit, as I had intentionally done before. I just wanted to start some shit for entertainment.
What people here think of as arguments and fights are like Twitter fights compared to the tens of thousands of pages of text that I wrote myself. Even bereft of the insults we traded those topics had real substance and you could actually learn something just reading it. One of my favorite subjects is Theoretical Physics and my favorite opponent and I spent over 1500 posts and around 5000 pages arguing over the implications of Time existing in the 4th or 5th dimension and the effects it might have on scientific theorems.
I don't expect anything like that here, but there's no substance anywhere. Hell, 80% or so of the responses I get here are TL;DR or people calling a couple paragraphs a novel. Too long? A novel? I've seen longer messages in a fortune cookie than what some here consider too extensive.
Joining a messageboard and not wanting to read is like a lactose intolerant person signing up for a cheese tasting party. If you defeat the entire purpose of the forum beforehand, what was the point in joining?
