I am a supporter of LGBTQ issues and all of the like.
Most gamers are not homophobic. Most gamers don't give a ferq about your sexuality. Rival gamers will use it as ammo to get a rise out of you. Others it is a term of endearment like 'bro', 'dude', etc.
No. It doesn't make it anymore acceptable, but you're submerging yourself in a 'zero ferqs given zone' when gaming. Either you grow some thick skin and roll with the jabs. Or you wince at the butthurt and go home.
I get a lot of crap and hassle for being a female gamer. I can't cry and be a damsel in distress anytime a man tries to go leet on me. I have to let it roll of my back and ignore them. Or shove back and let them know they just need to move on.
