You haven't lived til you've survived a hurricane (Andrew 1992), tornado (Texas panhandle 2010), volcano (Mt. St. Helens, WA 1980) and major flood (Wilkes Barre, PA 2011).

I was pretty small during St. Helens volcanic eruption but I do remember that it looked like nighttime in the middle of the day. Like a snowstorm of dirty snow.

My latest was the Northeast Pennsylvania flood of 2011 when I had to evacuate my home. We got lucky, no flood on my street but a few blocks away shit was destroyed. I have 2 friends that lost everything.

I was far enough away from both the hurricane and tornado that it wasn't too big of a deal but at the time it was still scary and a little exciting. Particularly the tornado in Texas because I was worried enough to hide under the sink in my motel room bathroom. I was making a cross-country trip at the time.

If you've been through something like this, please share your story. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Oh you are an older lady than me. I can dig it.
