I would say not to do it. One of my favorite characters is my Iksar SK, but with the 68% XP penalty you will be falling further and further behind the Shaman level wise. Now maybe a Iksar Monk but even they have a 44% penalty.
When Velious comes out after a few months the penalty will drop a bunch, but until then not the best idea.
