I have five cats, none of them go outside. My last cat was an outside stray I befriended one summer, decided to live on my deck, and by the winter found a home inside. Never bothers with the outside at all.
They can get injured or killed outside, and they kill other animals. Why expose them to that when they're perfectly happy inside? They couldn't care less about going out.

I guess I have the opposite experience. I have several cats, they all live outside and always have. They're fat and happy and won't stay inside even if I try to take them in. I live in the country in the middle of no where and none of them have ever been eaten by animals, or contracted rabies. I guess its just how you raise them.
